Home pair take the honours

CLEVEDON Ladies held their open four-ball better ball competition and visitors Rosemary Bickham and Sue Thompson from Yeovil set a fine pace.

CLEVEDON Ladies held their open four-ball better ball competition and visitors Rosemary Bickham and Sue Thompson from Yeovil set a fine pace and were leaders at the turn but were unable to maintain their form on the back nine allowing home players Lizzie Stephens and Vonnie Rendall to take the honours with 40 points.

Kathy Sheills and Janice Truscott from Stockwood Vale finished in second place (39 points).

Results (Clevedon unless stated): Lizzie Stephens and Vonnie Rendall 40 points; best visitors, Kathy Shiells and Jamie Truscott (Stockwood Vale) 39; runners-up,Fran Hunn and Anna Vintner (Long Ashton) 38; best home, Elaine Morgan and Jacquie Toogood 35; runners-up, Angela Maskell and June Powell 34; best mixed, Rosemary Fife and Lesley Gillon (Henbury) 33; runners-up, Cara Swift and Isabella Swift (Worlebury) 32.
