Head coach Jon Richardson says Hornets will be “delighted” if they can maintain their perfect start to season at Drybrook this Saturday.

Richardson’s followed up nine wins in the league with victory in the Bristol Combination Cup against Barton Hill last Friday before beating Old Redcliffians two days later.

And Richardson says they will give it all to make it 12 from 12 in Gloucestershire.

“I’m not sure if we’ve ever been to Drybrook but I’ve heard from a lot of people it’s a tough place to go and get a result,” he said.

“We’ll be ready for a physical encounter and hope our rugby ability will be enough to come through.

“We, as every other team does, try to win every game so if we can make it 12 from 12 we’ll be delighted.”

Last Friday’s win over Barts was their first win in the Combination Cup in 18 years.

Hornets scored 11 tries in their 71-12 victory with Oscar James scoring a hat-trick.

Charlie Carter (2), Alec Chase (2), Ayden Chenoweth, Mikey Brooks, Bailey Jackson and Callum Lane also went over in the rout to pick up their third title.

“It was great to win the Cup obviously we were a bit surprised by the result but still a fantastic moment for the players involved and the club as a whole,” he added.

“We scored a few very entertaining tries and in general played pretty well. We had to deal with both props being yellow carded at the same time in the first half for minimal offences but that’s the way it goes sometimes. The 13 that saw out those 10/11 minutes did a great job in defence.

“Seeing young Fin Davis come off the bench to make his first team debut at 18-years-old was a great moment within the game so congratulations goes to him.

“It is the result of a lot of hard work. But I have to say it’s the big effort that makes the difference. Sponsorship team, media team, committee, clubhouse staff.

“All the coaches and players throughout the club, the support we get every week, it all adds up to what we’re seeing at the club which is something special at the moment.

“We’re all enjoying the good times that have come with that hard work.”
