Hornettes Ladies marked their eagerly anticipated return to action in over 18 months with a 62-7 win at Avonmouth last Sunday.

Ella Catt and Emma Jones made their debuts for the visitors, and Lindsay Pilgrim made her first ever appearance at full-back after a four year hiatus from rugby, as Pixi Blakely, Sara Curtis and Phoebe Collins scored a try each.

Abbey Constable scored a hat-trick where as there was a haul of three tries, seven conversions and a penalty for fly-half Lucy Mager as the visitors accumulated 62 points.

A concerted defensive effort from the whole team held the home side to a single converted try in response in an impressive win at Barrack's Lane.

Captain Rhiannon Wain, who was recently voted onto the Board of Directors, said: "Hornettes Ladies were immense today, and the support we have for each other both on and off the pitch was clearly evident. I'm very proud to captain this team."

Hornettes return to action on Sunday October 10 at Aretians.
