AFTER resting some of the first team last week, the Hutton manager did the same this week in this county cup tie.

Fry’s looked prepared, but Hutton ran riot with veteran Chris Ham starting at the back. The Hutton goals started rolling in with Nathan Waterhouse (2), Ryan Fieldhouse, James Jenkins, Ash Towler and young Mark Jones scoring.

Hutton man of the match was Ash Towler.

Worle Res 2

Berrow Res 6

DESPITE a spirited second half performance, the damage had already been done and Worle failed to take any Division 3 points away at Berrow.

The 6-2 defeat did not reflect the performance of debutant goalkeeper Rob Bangham, who had a confident performance between the posts.

After a much-needed substitution, Worle set themselves the task of restoring some pride and began the second half with a 25 minute onslaught on the Berrow goal.

Man of the match Lloyd Dean and Ed Clarke continually probed and were both rewarded with goals for their efforts. Ben Anderson capped his debut with a strong performance in defence against a good Berrow attack.

Wrington Redhill Res 2

Westend 5

WESTEND went into this game in a confident mood having won their previous two matches.

Westend had the best of the early exchanges, and following a move between Will Joyce and Craig Smith, the latter slid in Mike Smith to open the scoring.

A defensive mix up gifted Wrington an equaliser, but this was short lived as Mark Puddy played in Mike Smith to score his second.

As Westend pushed, Joyce won a penalty which Rich Jones blasted wide, and this gave a boost to the Wrington morale. Just before half-time they broke at pace and equalised.

In the second half, Westend created a number of chances. Joyce, Smith, Steve Jones and Dave White all went close, but it was Joyce who scored to put them ahead after being teed up by Smith.

The fourth followed shortly after when Tony Willmott fed Bianca Jones down the right, his pass to Dave White allowed him to cross it for Craig Smith to stab home.

Mike Smith grabbed his hat-trick from close range. A special mention for keeper Mark Rawlins who made a number of good saves.

Man of the match went to Craig Smith, although his identical twin Mike came close.

Worle Rangers 3

MISTAKES cost Worle Rangers as they lost their first game in six.

Nailsea’s early pressure unsettled a changed Worle defence. However, a penalty save from Nathan Royce lifted the side and Rangers threatened through Adam Brown and Tom Williams, with support play from Jamie Ingersent.

A succession of free kicks and corners resulted in Chris Brinson volleying home a Marc Trewern corner to make it 1-0.

Shortly after, a pass from player-manager Dave Knight found Dave Brown whose cross-shot went in off a Nailsea defender to make it 2-0. Nailsea pressed forward and made it 2-1 at the break.

Nailsea made it 2-2 after a handling error by Royce. Worle made positive changes and the pace of Liam Willment began to stretch Nailsea. A mix-up gifted a half-chance for Nailsea, who scored from the edge of the box to make it 3-2.

Further changes by Worle allowed Trewern to push forward and he scored after a good move with Brinson. Worle continued to look for the winner, but a great tackle by Trewern was deemed a foul and Nailsea scored from the free-kick to make it 4-3. The Curry Garden man of the match was Marc Trewern.
