Hutton juniors win in extra time

HUTTON Under-13s were away to Chew Valley, winning 2-1 in extra time.

Chew started the stronger, playing down hill, forcing Hutton to defend for long periods of the first half. Keeper Lewis Condon was quick off the mark to deny Chew an opening goal. The Hutton defence of George Garfield, Callum Cheeseman, Marcus Walters and George Michael played well, while Jonathan Clarkson was lively on the wing.

The second half started with Chew taking an early lead with a long-range shot. Hutton kept pushing forward and Sam Matthews got the equaliser after a good run on to a through ball, following some good work in midfield by Leon Hele and Ryan Parker. The game developed into a midfield battle with both sides attacking on the break. Hutton kept moving the ball well around the field and creating chances with Lee Tinklin and Anthony Badman working hard.

Extra time started with Hutton playing well and attacking the Chew half, this pressure was rewarded when George Michael got the second. Hutton continued to work hard to keep their lead with Oliver Norville and Matt Jeffries putting in some hard challenges. Man of the match was Lewis Condon.

The Under-12s drew 2-2 with Cheddar Valley Dynamos, with both teams sharing top spot in Division 1 and Hutton having two games in hand.

Hutton started brightly when Zak Westwood fed the ball to Josh Pratt who beat a defender and delivered a good cross which was handled by a Cheddar defender and Charlie Harris scored from the penalty spot.

This sparked the game into life and Cheddar began to have a lot of possession, putting the Hutton defence under pressure. Keeper Oliver Edwards kept Hutton in the game with good saves and commanded his area well.Hutton had to defend for their lives as Cheddar pressed with Dan Cox sticking to his role well with good challenges.

Stefan Thomson, in the heart of defence, cleared most attacks alongside George Thorne. Cheddar tried all avenues to get round the back of the defence but Alex Kilpatrick snuffed them out tracking back well.

Just before half-time, Cheddar made it 1-1 when Hutton failed to close down from a corner. Up front, Matthew Jones and Zak were finding it frustrating trying to get hold of the ball in wet and windy conditions but battled well.

The second half saw a similar pattern to the first with substitute Bradley Cousins giving some good physical presence. Captain James Difford, recovering from an ankle injury, made telling passes while James Chudley made good runs down the wing and also got back well to defend when needed. In a packed midfield, Charlie emerged with the ball on many occasions and just failed to find Zak.

Hutton continued to press with Josh making excellent runs down the right, supplying good crosses for Brad and Zak. After Josh was hauled down outside the box, Charlie delivered a good free kick which the keeper failed to hold, and Zak was on hand to stab home for a 2-1 lead. Hutton brought on new signing Alfie Hardy and he helped the midfield with good challenges.

Towards the end, Cheddar put a bit of pressure on and Hutton succumbed in the final minutes from another corner to make the final score 2-2.

For a good battling display, the AGM Services man of the match went to Josh Pratt.

The Under-11s played away at Nailsea Athletic and won 3-2, but made hard work of a game played in rain and wind.

Hutton were shocked to go a goal down when Nailsea scored with their first attempt. Hutton's defence of Kyle Sampson, Lewis Mclean and Joe Taylor was being made to work hard and keeper Charlie Walford made some saves.

Hutton started to come into the game more, Fraser Ham, Marios Michael and Bradley Thomas were starting to combine which meant Lewis Oakes and Eli Butt could go on some good runs down the flanks.

Hutton scored when Morgan Bacon latched on to a good through ball from Michael. Billy Miller and Sam Smith came on and made a instant impact when Miller had a shot well saved. Tom Hayes started to make some telling runs with the ball and Hutton started to come into the game but their efforts were short lived when Nailsea scored again just before the half-time break.

In the second half with the rain and wind still making it difficult to play football, Hutton brought on Rhys Davies who showed some nice touches. Ham was working well with Miller and Thomas. Hayes went out wide left and started to make some telling runs from which Miller, Bacon and Smith went close.

Hutton had a free kick and Michael tested the Nailsea keeper and Smith hit the crossbar. With eight minutes remaining, Thomas scored a goal from 20 yards worthy of winning a game, when Hayes made a run down the left and crossed for Thomas. Hutton went for more goals but were unlucky from Miller, Ham, Hayes and Smith, and at the other end defenders Mclean, Taylor and Sampson stood firm for the last few minutes for Hutton to take all the points.The Grand Pier man of the match went to Tom Hayes and Bradley Thomas

The Under-9s A beat Burnbridge A 10-1 as dreadful conditions delayed the start, but once underway, Hutton that controlled play.

The game began fairly evenly with the Hutton defence called into action a number of times and keeper Luke Grindle was helped by Tom Smith and Kyle Jones to repel any Burnbridge attacks. Macauly Abram, Lewis Neal, Jay Murray and Harry Munden were industrious in midfield, passing the ball around despite the boggy conditions. Jake Flavell and Ty Jamieson were full of running up front, dragging the defenders out of position to provide space for the midfield.

Soon Hutton began to dominate and, despite a spirited display, Burnbridge could not cope with the quality of Hutton's forward play. Goals for Hutton came from Flavell, Abram (4), Jamieson (2), Munden (2) and Neal.

The B team beat Burnbridge B 13-1 and this game began fairly evenly with some heroic defending from Burnbridge, keeping the Hutton forward line from scoring until half way through the first half. Hutton went two-nil up and took their foot of the gas.

A good strike by a Burnbridge player made it 2-1, and Hutton appeared to wake up. Harry Harman, Jake Adams and James Brown were solid in defence which allowed Ciaran Murphy to run the midfield sending much of the play down the flanks to Tom White, George Darch and Sam Mannings-Hill.

Toby Butterfield was unstoppable up front and Liam Bailey, who played in almost every position during the game, was composed and full of running. The goal of the match was a real team effort with several Hutton players passing through the Burnbridge team to leave Mannings-Hill an easy tap in. Further goals came from Butterfield (4), Darch (3), Murphy (2), Brown (2) and White.

The Under-11s were lucky to have Gary Meakins from David Beckham Soccer Academy down to coach the boys for a few hours, and there could be a chance of the team going up to London for a training session at the London Academy.

WESTON Town Under-13s played Milton Nomads in a friendly, narrowly losing 6-5.

Weston were slow to get going and Nomads made them pay racing to a four-goal lead. As the half progressed Weston found their feet against their Division 1 opposition and won a penalty which Alex Windell converted, but Nomads hit back to take a 5-1 lead into the break.

The second half saw Weston come out fighting. The central midfield of Jake Phillpotts, Ryan Higgs and Luke Healy battled for possession while Sam Baker and Dan Berry were excellent on the wings.

Alex Windell added Weston's second, Dan Berry the third and Alex completed his hat-trick to pull back to within one. A lapse of concentration at the back allowed Nomads to score again before Alex Windell got his fourth to set up a thrilling final few minutes.

Weston piled on pressure and hit the bar four times in the final minute but could not find the equaliser. Many thanks to Nomads for their hospitality and for playing their part in a great game of junior football.

CHEDDAR Under-9s B lost 2-1 away at Nailsea, despite defender Joe Bracewell and goalkeeper Cameron McColm arriving late

The first half was evenly matched until James King blasted Cheddar ahead with a fantastic strike, set up by a William Spinks throw-in.

After the break Nailsea levelled despite the efforts of Alisdair Davies and James Poyner in the Cheddar defence. Sam Catling, Fintan Carroll and Thomas Wechman fought hard into the final minutes and were unlucky to concede a late goal. Player of the match was Cameron McColm.

WORLE Juniors Under-9s beat Burnham Athletic 3-0 at a wet and windy Queens Way. N

Neither team stamped their authority in the early stages with no clear chances until a snap shot from Dan Williams skidded off the greasy surface and nestled into the bottom corner.

The second half started well for the Juniors with Charlie Harvey taking control of the midfield. A distance strike from Max Lainchbury doubled the lead who guaranteed their first win of the season with a rasping Dan Williams strike.

Will Stephens denied Burnham a consolation goal when he timed his last ditch tackle to perfection which allowed keeper Arron Pitt to dive on the loose ball.

The Blagdon Water Gardens man of the match was Charlie Harvey.

WESTON Crusaders Under-10s met Milton Nomads and the A team won their game 8-4 with goals from Cory Thomas-Barker (4), Jamie Havard (2), Harry Cox and Christian Jones. Crandon Construction man of the match went to Cory Thomas-Barker.

The B team were unlucky to draw 0-0 with Archie Tilsley's shot went just past a post in the dying seconds. Crandon Construction man of the match went to Herbie Courdroy.

The Under-15s beat Nailsea Athletic 3-1 on a cold and windy afternoon. Crusaders took the lead on 20 minutes with a well-worked goal by Ollie Bailey and they added a second with a great shot from Cam Wakely 10 minutes later. Dan Thomas added the third before the break.

In the second half, Nailsea pressurised and were rewarded with a consolation 10 minutes from time. Man of the match was goalkeeper Adam Godfrey who made some great saves.

MILTON Nomads Under-9s A were away against the Isle of Wedmore and won 4-0. Within five minutes Brandon Smith opened the scoring from an interception andd shortly after Harry Little had an effort from the half way line saved by Wedmore's keeper.

Wedmore conceded a corner which Matthew Ogborne crossed for Matt Hayden to score the second. Wedmore battled regardless, but some really intelligent defending from George Fulcher denied them any chances on goal. Matthew H then scored again from a another corner and at half time Nomads led by 3-0.

The second half saw a barrage of attacking play from Nomads with several shots going just wide. Wedmore broke through the midfield but their shot was saved by keeper Charlie Woodards whose goal kick to Matt O was passed to Matt H who embarked on a solo run through the Wedmore defence before completing the scoring. Nomads midfielder Louis Merreywether's work rate gained him the Conferex man of the match.

The B team beat Wedmore 6-0 with captain Harry Beer opening the scoring inside two minutes. They continued to attack the Wedmore defence, with smart strong play through the midfield led by Jack Rickwood.

It was not long before Janson Wheatley netted Nomads second goal. Wedmore made a couple of good runs but Chris Bedingfield saved every attempt. Harry Beer then made an accurate cross to Ben Insley for Nomads third goal just before the half time whistle.

Early in the second half, Jack Rickwood added the fourth and then had another attempt saved by the keeper, however Harry Beer knocked in the rebound. Janson Wheatley scored his second of the game and earning him the Conferex man of the match award.

The Under-14s beat Clevedon United Colts away 5-3, but Clevedon started brighter and took a deserved lead in the first three minutes. Nomads rallied and equalised through Lewis after some neat build up play from Smith and Hussey. Clevedon struck again before half time and at the break Nomads still had not found their form.

Clevedon then went 3-1 up with 20 minutes remaining, and then Nomads started to play some football that resembled their normal standard.

Milsom was rewarded for hard work when latching on to Bishop through ball and scored to put Nomads back in the game.

With the momentum now with Nomads, Ridsdill fired home an equaliser with five minutes remaining. Then Lewis, after some tenacious battling by Hussey, put Nomads ahead for the first time. They finished the game off with a further goal in the last minute from Hussey after some great work from Smith. Man of the match was A J Griffiths for another competent display in goal.

PRIORY Under-12s beat Clevedon 3-1, a win which lifts them to fifth in the table.

Jacob Piggot made early raids, but the visitors went in front in the 11th minute when a high looping cross spun and dipped into the net. One almost became two for Clevedon but agile keeper Jake Smith made a fine stop.

Priory continued with their attacking passing game and almost equalised when Kai Hopkin came within a whisker of connecting with a Hassalls' cross. Jordan Hodgkinson showed stamina by getting up and down the right, Cam Frost, George Lewis and James Kerr came close.

The second half started with Priory knocking the ball about really well, Lewis and Hassalls had shots before the equaliser came in the 39th minute, when a corner was not dealt with and the ball dropped for Josh Skuse who made no mistake from close range for his second of the season. This was the spark Priory needed and in the 43rd minute Jordan Biss got them into the lead when he prodded home a Bradley Hassalls cross, for his fourth goal of the season.

A period of pressure from the visitors followed but any hopes of a comeback were snuffed out nine minutes from time when Hassalls provided a cross, and this time Josh Thorne finished neatly. Keenan Williams almost made it four with a volley late on and Cam Frost had a shot which flew inches wide.

With two minutes remaining keeper Jake Smith flew to the left and made a terrific save, which earned him the man of the match.

PRIORY Rangers Under-15s from Division 3 faced a difficult second round cup tie against Divison 1 Berrow Boys.

Priory started the game the brighter and had Berrow on the back foot with an early Ashley Smith corner that was kept out by a post and a Berrow defender, but they took a well deserved lead when some good work from Ben Macaulay allowed MGM Recycling man of the match Joseph Reames to unleash a 25-yard drive which ripped into the back of the net.

Berrow started to settle and played some good football but could not break down Priory defence of Ross Wood, Sam Fernley, John Hunt and Ashley Smith. When they eventually did, keeper Lewis Hyatt was more than a match. Angelo Fagnani, Kyle Smith, Chris Bridges, Joe Reames and Callum Neate battled hard in midfield. Priory won a free kick some 35 yards from goal and Sam Fernley trie his luck with a shot which was straight at the Berrow keeper but the power was too much and Priory doubled their lead.

Neate was replaced by Kerry Morris who battled well in midfield. Berrow pressured and right on half time scored a goal from a corner with a well placed header.

The second half saw Berrow up their game and they dominated from start and eventually broke Priory down and managed to score six more goals without reply. Priory brought on Declan Whittle, Rhys Winstone and Jake Bentham to try to salvage something but the difference in class eventually shone through.

BANWELL Under-13s eased into the next round of the Tesco Cup with a 4-1 away win at Taunton Division 1 Youth League team Wembdon.

Banwell started playing some fluent football and were soon rewarded when Joe Brett passed to Rhys Spurling who flicked the ball over the defence for Jack Butterfield to lob the keeper.

Soon Banwell were through again with Jack Butterfield narrowly missing. The midfield of Lewis Cahill, Ben Clatworthy, Josh Kay and captain Joe Brett controlled the first half with Joe Brett unlucky with some long-range shots. After a great run and cross from Josh Kay, Lewis Cahill controlled, turned and scored the second.

In the second half Banwell again played well with the defence of Sam Granger, Joe Lawrence, Ollie Habgood, Sam Bond and Luke Holden doing well against Wenbdon's long ball game.

Jack Butterfield made it 3-0 with his second and as Banwell applied pressure, Ben Clatworthy scored his first goal of the season with a excellent volley. Wembdon scored a consolation goal five minutes from the end. Keeper Jordan Sotiris handled well in difficult conditions and was unlucky to be beaten. Persimmons Homes man of the match was Ollie Habgood.

The Under-10s A beat Hutton Juniors 2-0 in awful weather conditions and created a few early chances which were foiled by the Hutton keeper. Hutton put together some good attacking moves that the Banwell defence of Ben Tukcker and James Hart worked hard to break down.

Keeper Jack Partridge made important saves from free kicks in dangerous positions. The opening goal came from Billy Berry with a shot from outside the area that took a deflection. Charlie Camper and Luke Edwards linked up well in midfield to create more chances, but were denied by a post.

Connor Burns played well in midfield and an early pass from Jack Partridge released Luke Edwards, whose lob over the top put Sam White through to add the second. The Cube@Morse's man of the match went to Billy Berry.

The B team beat Hutton Juniors 5-0 during a break in the weather. Keeper Ben Meakin had a quiet game thanks to excellent defending by Jamie Jenkins, Ben Vernon and Joel Wills, whose shot just went wide in the second half.

Kaan Berk opened the scoring by lobbing the keeper from Max Bretherton's through ball. Bretherton then provided an ideal pass for Harrison Giles to double the lead. Matthew Gilmore beat a number of players and set up Giles for his second.

Giles turned provider to set up Berk for his second and Banwell forced a number of corners before Steven Baker won possession, passed to Matthew Gilmore to tap in.
