HUTTON made it twp wins out of two in Division 1 with an average performance against a young fit Portishead team.

It took Hutton 20 minutes to wake up, but when they did, new signing Matt Huxtable opened the scoring by taking on the Portishead defence. Mike Danver made it two before the break with a great header.

In the second half Hutton played good football with the defence of Loachy, Sam, Gareth and Billy, never looking in trouble.

As the game went on veteran Stu Miller popped up with two goals to make it a good day for Hutton.

Man of the match, sponsored by the Old Inn, went to Chris Loach.

Kewstoke Lions 3

KEWSTOKE kept their unbeaten start to the Division 1 season going with a win over Nailsea United A.

They got off to a flier with two or three chances in the first few minutes. Callum Thompson and Alex Chatterley both going close. New signing James Milson settled in nicely and his long throw started to cause havock in the Nailsea defence, chance after chance went by with the Nailsea keeper making stop after stop.

Kewstoke began to get frustrated so a change in formation by caretaker manager Scott Thompson was required. Then their luck changed and an excellent move down the right involving James Milson, Callum Thompson and Steve Channing was finished by Clayton Kingman.

Soon after Darren Vincent scored Kewstoke, combining well with Alex Chatterley. Kewstoke's defence of Alex Blake, James Milson, Rich Collins, Andy Marshall and Nic Blake stood up well as Nailsea went for broke, but Kewstoke finished them off with another goal from Darren Vincent.

The Mike Warburton Electricals man of the match goes to the Nailsea goalkeeper. Next up for Kewstoke is a much awaited cup-tie away to Kenn Valley.

Axbridge Town 6

IN a first meeting between the sides since the 1960, Axbridge ran out easy winners in Division 3.

The first 10 minutes were closely contested with both teams not wanting to make any mistakes; with Leigh Rodgers in the Town goal and Elliot Harrison in Winscombe's goal hardly touching the ball.

The Clarets took the lead on 15 minutes when Phil Bugler fed Olly Geirmann to volley home from 25 yards. Town then stepped up a gear and went 3-0 up after Bugler hit a quick brace after being set up by Simon Avery and Ian Wait. Winscombe came out fighting for the second half and Marcus Hussey was unlucky not to score, but this was the only time the back four of Fear, Masland, Lawes and Honeywell were breached. Sam Stephens had a great game at the back for Winscombe, but he could not stop Phil Bugler, who scored a second-half hat-trick to take his tally to eight in two games. Percy Foord produced a great second-half display and earned himself joint man of the match with Bugler. With 30 minutes to go and the game safe, manger Parsons bought debutant Dan Tullet on to replace captain Lawes.

South Park 2

SOUTH Park were aiming to bounce back from their opening day Division 4 defeat against a Cheddar side who had also conceded four on the opening day.

South Park's squad was depleted and were without their first choice keeper who was injured the previous week, but Scott Ferris bravely stepped into the breach.

The match was even with neither side able to impose themselves on the game. South Park showed more endeavour and ingenuity, carving out a couple of good chances and five minutes before half time Rob Garrett scored from a corner and he added another from a Matt Harvey early in the second half.

Si Gilpin was tearing Cheddar apart down the right and nearly put South Park into a three nil-lead but for an exceptional fingertip save from the Cheddar keeper.

Cheddar pulled a goal back with 20 minutes left with about 10 minutes left, they were awarded a penalty to draw level, and three minutes from time a Cheddar player broke through to add the winner.

Blagdon 2

HUTTON Reserves first Division 4 game of the season saw an enthralling contest between two evenly matched sides.

Hutton began the stronger, putting pressure on the Blagdon defence and had several good chances to open the scoring. James Drinkwater and Dan Keenan on either flank caused a lot of problems with their running.

Blagdon came into the game, particularly on the counter attack, and had some efforts go close. Keenan opened the scoring after the keeper parried a shot, Tim Abram put the hosts two-nil ahead after latching on to a Drinkwater through ball.

The second half saw a 20-minute spell where Blagdon rallied and began putting more pressure on the Hutton goal. Their first goal came from some good build-up play and an unstoppable shot. A defensive mix-up a few minutes later allowed the Blagdon striker time to pick his spot r.

Hutton looked jaded but to their credit finished the game off in style when Drinkwater ran through and lobbed the keeper earning him the Old Inn man of the match award

Dolphin Athletic 4

Dynamo Dury Res 1

DOLPHIN went into this Division 6 game looking to keep up their winning start to the season and were not disappointed.

Dolphin looked more likely to score with some good passing play, but were shut out by the Dury defence on several attempts. Dury put together some good plays but were kept out by the back four of Heady, Boucher, Lewis and Kershaw.

The home side took the lead after Dynamo failed to make anything of a corner and Dolphin hit them with a great counter attack, with McCabe holding the ball up before playing it wide to Wright who curled a shot past the keeper.

Dolphin doubled their lead two minutes later when McCabe and Wright played in Pearson to fire home.

Dury's cancellation goal came when a ball over the top was not dealt with and was slotted past the out-rushing keeper.

The second half saw Dolphin dominate the midfield area with Merry controlling the ball and playing it wide. Dolphin made it three when a ball though the Dury defence found McCabe who lobbed the keeper.

Dynamo made changes but could not find a way past the defence. Dolphin rounded off the scoring when Wright struck again when he volleyed home from a tight angle. The second half saw Dolphin give a debut to Woodard in midfield.

The Bristol Hotel man of the match went to John McCabe for his endless running, well finished goal and goal assists.

Weston Super Seagulls 4

AFC Nailsea Res 1.

THE Seagulls continued their Division 6 winning streak with a fine performance against AFC Nailsea Res.

Seagulls were without Farr and Hewlett, but Beynon and Main stepped in and took to the roles with ease, Beynon notching three well taken goals and Main grabbing one.

The defence of Oddy, Nigel and Barry Adams, Fox and Spear were solid as nothing got through apart from a weak goal from a corner. Marsh, Boyd, Perrott and Barron in midfield controlled the, playing some good football. Hester and Fletcher did well when coming on although Hester missed another free header from six yards.Royal Grosvenor man of the match went to Kristian Oddy.

WESTON Players recorded their first ever competitive victory in Division 6..

Owen was fed through the middle on 10 minutes and lifted the ball over the oncoming keeper to give Players the lead. Owen then turned provider five minutes later laying the ball off to Criddle who scored and Alderson scored with a shot off the post on 25 minutes.

Axbridge scored with a drive from the edge of the penalty are following a cleared corner.

The second half started brilliantly for Players with Dabbs scoring from 30 yards 15 seconds after the restart.

Axbridge scored from a rebound after a long-range shot was parried on 65 minutes.

A couple of good saves from Miller coupled with some great battling in defence kept the score unchanged.

Man of the match was awarded to Dan Riddle.
