CLEVEDON kept their chances alive of avoiding relegation from the British Gas Southern Premier League with this important win over their Midlands visitors.

Going into the game without the injured Chris Collins and Sam Jones and also missing suspended Josh Brigham, Clevedon forced two early corners and, on 15 minutes, Dale Peckham fired over. Matt Walsh then fired across the Stourbridge goal, but no-one was on hand to provide the final touch.

Tom Billing and Jamal Easter went close early in the second half before Stourbridge were reduced to 10 men when Sam Smith was shown a straight red card.

Stourbridge keeper Lewis Solly then got down well to deal with a shot by Easter and then, from Pete Shephard's cross, Easter headed narrowly wide.

Lee Molyneaux cleared off his line from Stourbridge's Sam Rock before Clevedon broke the deadlock on 77 minutes when Peckam headed in Danny Wring's free kick and, two minutes later, Billing added the second with another header.

In between the goals, Clevedon keeper Mike Green did well to deny Kyle Hadley.
