WESTON were denied a share of the Blue Square South points when they conceded a goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time at Chelmsford’s Melbourne Park.

Although the home side dominated the majority of play, forcing nine corners, they were curtailed to only three shots on target.

From the side that picked up a point at Basingstoke, Justin Porter, over his illness, was in midfield as was Ben Kirk, while Nabi Diabio, on the bench last time, led the attack. Matt Villis, Kane Ingram, Marcus Duharty, Nat Pepperell and Sahr Kabba were on the bench.

In almost non-stop home attack in the first half, Sam Higgins was just off target in the opening minute, then gave Weston keeper an easy save and later a Higgins effort was cleared off the line by Craig Rand and Higgins’ best effort saw him hit the base of a post on 40 minutes.

Weston had an early attack in the second half with Martin Slocombe finishing a strong run with a snap shot that was easily claimed by keeper James Pullen, which was their only effort on target.

Villis came on to strengthen the defence midway through the half in place of midfielder Dayle Grubb, Kabba replaced Diabio and Ingram took over from Brett Trowbridge.

Weston looked to be holding out for a hard-earned point until the fourth minute of injury time when, from a corner, substitute Takumi Ake scrambled in the vital score.
