Members from the J21 Gymnastics Club earned three trophies at the Baskervilles Rising Stars Championships.

J21 GYMNASTICS Club based in Weston, entered the Baskervilles Rising Stars Championships held in Bath.

Fourteen gymnasts represented the club and brought home a fantastic 21 nedals and three trophies.

The competition began with Jasmine Old, Kate Milne and Mercina Markoutsas all competing in the Under-7s. Silver medals were awarded both to Mercina on the trampette and Kate on the floor. Kate also took the bronze medal overall with Mercina placing fourth.

Jasmine showed confidence while competing, taking the gold on all apparatus and taking the overall trophy.

Competing along side them was Lexy Mason, Lexi Cooper and Imogen Old in the Under-9s. This was the first competition competing outside the club for all three gymnasts and they competed with ease.

Lexi took the silver on floor alongside Imogen, who took gold. Imogen also took gold on vault, being placing overall first place and taking home the second trophy of the day.

Lexi took home the bronze overall and Lexy although missing out on a medal, was placed seventh overall out of 21 gymnasts competing.

The next round saw Holly James and Evangeline Wigmore compete in the Under-9s intermediate level. Both girls competed well with Evangeline completing a flawless floor routine, leading her to take the gold on floor, with Holly just missing out on the bronze. Holly took the bronze overall with team-mate Evangeline finishing fourth.

Representing the club in the Under-12s was Elise Vernon-Mason and Emily Murphy. Elise took the silver on vault which was fantastic as again it was her first experience of competition outside the club.

Emily took the bronze on floor, silver on trampette and was placed first overall, being awarded the third trophy of the day.

The competition ended with some of the club’s more experienced competitors. Sophie Daniel in the Over-12s advanced, Lauren Adamson in the Over-12s intermediate, Caitlin Rickard and Ro Love in the Under-12s intermediate.

Sophie took silver on floor and was placed second overall, only just missing out on the gold. Lauren took the bronze on the floor, while Ro took the gold medal on vault. However, after a costly fall on the floor, she finished in fourth position.

Some of the girls have also competed in Bristol, with more great results. Jasmine and Mercina were both placed on floor, with Mercina taking the silver and Jasmine the bronze, and Holly taking the gold medal on vault.

All gymnasts and coaches work incredibly hard and dedicate a lot of time into training for these competitions. Good luck to some of the squad members competing later this month in Rushmoor.
