AFTER finishing second to Harry Burrow in the last few tournaments, Jack Keates finally took the number 1 spot at the Avenue Mini Red Rovers tournament recently.

Head coach Vinny Duddy said Jack and Harry played an excellent match with Jack just edging it 10-9 with an excellent forehand drive, which needed the Avenue’s Hawkeye to make the final decision as to whether the shot was in or not.

Missing from the photograph above were newcomers to tennis competition Tiegan Larkman, Josie Whitfield and Owen Channon, who all acquitted themselves well considering the conditions.

Vinny wanted to thank Harry’s dad Kevin Burrow for refereeing the matches in the cold conditions. The next mini red tournament has now been moved to the December 19 to coincide with the Avenue chairman’s mince pies open door event with stand-in chairman Poo Jenkins.

Coming up over the Christmas period will be the junior Christmas disco and party (December 17), Boxing Day social tennis ournament and the New Year’s Eve family disco.
