Lympsham all-rounder Jack Luff starred with bat and ball in his team’s away win at Horrington.

LYMPSHAM looked to continue their unbeaten start to the season with an away trip to Horrington.

Skipper Jack Luff lost the toss and was asked to bat on a damp wicket. The visitors started steadily, with Dave Luff and Jamie Howson looking solid until Luff was adjudged lbw for 20.

Tom Gooding joined Howson and these two took the score to 71 before Gooding was run out. Jack Luff and Howson moved the score to 142 with 10 over remaining when Howson was out for an excellent 90.

Hutton and Luff started to destroy the Horrington bowling before Luff departed for 34 and Hutton for 38, taking Lympsham to 210-5.

In reply, opening bowlers Jack Luff and Sam Poole attacked from the start and Luff picked up 4-15 in his first spell, before Poole picked up a wicket reducing the hosts to 25-5.

Max Gregory took a wicket to reduce Horrington to 39-6 as the home side looked to bat out for points. Andy Russ and Adam Micklewright bowled tightly without success, but the introduction of Stuart Bruce found the breakthrough.

Lympsham Concrete man of the match Jack Luff returned to pick up his fifth wicket, finishing with figures of 5-30 off 12 overs.

The final wicket was taken by Gooding with his first ball, leaving the hosts all out for 106 in the 41st over and Lympsham picking up full points.

LYMPSHAM Sunday XI travelled to North Petherton for their second league match.

Having asked their opponents to bat first, the Lympsham opening attack of Liam Morris (2-11) and Tom Fearns (1-16) and a smart run out soon had the hosts reeling at 26-4.

Further wickets from Max Gregory (2-9), Craig Scriven (1-9) and tight bowling from Adam Micklewright (0-11) kept the pressure on. Captain Tom Gooding (3-3) brought himself on to mop up the tail and North Petherton were all out for 61.

In reply, Lympsham lost Felix Grandfield early, before Gary Hutton (24) and Gregory (19) put Lympsham well on their way to victory. Both were dismissed close to the target, leaving Gooding (13 not out) and Scriven (2 not out) to see Lympsham home to a seven-wicket victory.

Lympsham Livery man of the match went to the whole team for an excellent all-round performance.
