BOXING - WESTON Amateur Boxing Club travelled to Exmouth Pavilion for the first contest of the new season.
Eighteen-year-old Jake Giddings, in his first contest as a senior, faced Tristian Kellsall Spur of the host Club Lympstone, and after dominating for three rounds was given a unanimous decision, 21-2, 17-7,17-5. Jake was congratulated on the night's best performance by Jason Cook, with his world lightweight title belt.
Bradley Warwick (12), of Wyvern School, boxed against Riley Cox of Downend at Longwell Green Football Club.
Bradley started strongly, and agressivley taking the contest to his opponent, but allowed Cox to get back in the second half of all three rounds, and he lost 6-5,7-5,7-6.
This show hosted two female contests, but Weston only has one female training with them, a nine-year-old who cannot box for another two years. With female boxing growing rapidly, the club would welcome more females to their gym. Anyone interested contact John on 07786371164 or e-mail coachclearyh@hotmail.com
