A second successive century from Jamie Howson guided Lympsham to victory over Woodpeckers.

LYMPSHAM hosted Woodpeckers and won the toss and asked the opposition to bat on a fairly damp wicket.

Woodpeckers openers played their shots from ball one, until Cowgill picked up opener K Britton in the fourth over due to a magnificent catch from Tom Gooding.

Another breakthrough from Summers left the visitors 38-2, but the visiting batsmen got their heads down and wickets became increasingly harder to find. With G Brimble (112) passing three figures, it took an excellent second spell from Andy Russ to take some late wickets and reduced the away side to 255-8.

After tea, Lympsham started solidly until Andy Hall was removed in the seventh over, which brought Tom Gooding to the crease and together with Jason Parsons encountered a 75 run partnership.

Two quick wickets left the home side 101-3 off 20 overs, and this brought Lympsham Concrete man of the match Jamie Howson to the crease who was supported by Parsons who made a powerful 71 before being caught on the boundary.

A solid partnership between Howson and Mike Tucker got the home side into a winning position, with 74 being required off of the last 10 overs. Jack Luff now joined Howson and together took advantage of gaps in the field with some superb running between the wickets.

Two big blows from Luff brought the run rate down before he was dismissed for 29. This allowed Howson to take Lympsham to a well-deserved. He ended up on 103 not out, including seven sixes and seven fours, for back to back league centuries.

The seconds travelled to south Gloucestershire to play Alveston and were asked to bat on a soft wicket. The toss was crucial and coupled with some poor batting, Lympsham only managed 90 all out from just 28 overs.

Only three Lympsham players reached double figures with opener Simon Bailey (12) grafting, Jed Kerkin (15) and Simon Pilgrim top scoring with 22 not out at the end, helped by 16 extras.

Following an exceptional tea, Liam Morris (2-12) bowled took two early wickets to leave Alveston at 6-2. Fellow opening bowler and Windows Merchants man of the match Adam Micklewright also bowled well and without luck as two catches went down off his bowling.

This turned the game as the pitch dried out and Alveston then went on to win by seven wickets. Jules Froud (1-34) took a late wicket, but Alveston easily won by seven wickets with over 20 overs to spare.
