Jamie secures another title at Weston
Jamie Allen defeated Jon Chan to clinch the men’s singles title at Weston Tennis Club.
JoWESTON Tennis Club members turned out on a sunny afternoon to watch the keenly awaited final match in the club’s men’s singles tournament.
The contestants were head coach, Jamie Allen, already a champion at Woodland LTC, and Jon Chan, a previous winner of the event at Weston.
In the first set there were several service breaks and Jamie worked his way into a 5-3 lead, but Jon levelled at five games all, only for Jamie to edge the set 7-5. Jon then won a closely-contested second set by the same score.
In the deciding set, Jon began to tire and Jamie took his opportunities to clinch it 6-1. Both players displayed a wide array of shots and many of the rallies were warmly applauded by their enthusiastic supporters. The trophy was presented to Jamie by club chairman, Bob Wilson.
