Johnny Page won the latest open match at a bitterly cold Shiplate Farm.

BITTERLY cold weather and a few snow flakes made this open match on the Main Lake at Shiplate Farm feel like the middle of winter.

The brave anglers proved that fishing against the elements can bring its rewards. Some good sized bream were netted, along with several good carp to produce some healthy bags at the end of the match.

Winner Johnny Page fished double hair rigged corn on the feeder, while runner-up Paul Chapman fished with maggot and pinkies on the pole at 13 metres.

Results: Johnny Page (peg 11), 58lb; Paul Chapman (peg 5), 50lb 4oz. Silvers went to Darren Greenwood (peg 4), 13lb 6oz.
