AFTER being snowed off at the end of 2010, the final round of the Castle Combe Junior Karting Championship finally took place.

AFTER being snowed off at the end of 2010, the final round of the Castle Combe Junior Karting Championship finally took place.

The competition was tough as always, but it was Weston racer James Johnson that was crowned this season’s championship winner.

Johnson, who received last season’s novice award, put in consistent good drives all season to claim the title. He won an ARKS pack, which enables him to progress further in the exciting world of motorsport.

After a fantastic season, Johnson started the final round with an 11 point lead. He beat off competition from the likes of Bristol racer Kristian Jennings and Swindon racer Jack Sweeney, to win by six points.

Anyone interested in having a go must be aged between 10 to 15-years-old and at least 4ft 8ins tall. The junior sessions run on the first and third Sundays of the month and there are additional dates during the school holidays on April 15, July 29 and August 26.

The sessions last three hours and cost �36, pre-booking is essential. No previous karting experience is required and all the necessary equipment is supplied.
