Jokers Pack kept their unbeaten record in the Flotsam Billiards League with victory over Well Backs.
WELL Backs took on unbeaten Flotsam Billiards League leaders Jokers Pack, but were well beaten.
Tina Owen Sevilton always had too much in her locker against Well Backs’ Pete Wood as she powered through to a strong 91 point victory. Well Backs’ captain Martyn Howell met Brian Harvey in the next game and started strongly, first double baulking his hugely experienced opponent, then putting in an early 35 break to clear his negative handicap, but Brian put in some good breaks with the highest of 71, as he ran out a victor.
In a friendly pairs game, Pete and Martyn held their own and gave Tina and Brian a much closer game, despite eventually going down by 30 points.
At the Conservative Club, The Commoners hosted Congresbury and this match went the way of the visitors. Malcolm Smith kicked off first against Irving Prowse and the away player had just too and eased into a comfortable 69-150 point victory.
In the second game, it looked like an evenly-matched contest as Adrian Smith took on Reuben Hurse. Adrian kicked up a gear to leave Reuben floundering and raced away with the game and win by 87 points.
In the final game, Anthony McKee played for the Commoners against Dave Larner and was never in the game. Dave rolled back the years and played superb billiards to ease into a comfortable win, sealing the point and the aggregate needed to win the match 3-1.
It was another whitewash at the Constitutional Club as Zimmers took on Fuzz Box. Both teams struggled to put anything together with the highest break being only 25 by Roy Jenkins.
Wayne Ticer beat Mitch Wilson in the first frame and with his greater experience closed out the frame by 43 points. Roy Jenkins took on George Rowe in the second game and George was only a single point from scoring 100, before Roy finished the game.
For the final frame, Wayne and Roy were playing pairs against Bob Selby and Bob made a good account of himself only losing by 16 points.
Breaks: Brian Harvey 68, 71, 57, 36, 44; Tina Owen-Sevilton 35, 26; Martyn Howell 35; Irving Prowse 20; Reuben Hurse 22, 23; Adrian Smith 26, 22; Dave Larner 20.
