LOCAL kickboxer Jon Para captured a British title at the recent WUMA British Open Series at Cheltenham.

LOCAL kickboxer Jon Para captured a British title at the recent WUMA British Open Series at Cheltenham.

Weighing in at 87.9kgs, Para was entered into the over-90kg class against a heavier and more powerful opponent. Using his speed and flexibility, he won two bouts to reach the final.

Para’s fast hand combinations, combined with superior kicking skills, landing well executed roundhouse kicks in succession to his opponents head put the young fighter in control. Para dug deep until the end and exhausted went on to win the bout and the British Open Series title.

His instructor for the last two years Ian Simpson, said how proud he was of Jon and the respect he has brought to this small club. Clevedon Kickboxing Club were based at the Health Club at Alexandra Rd in Clevedon, but are currently training at Sweat.FA in Weston on a Friday evening from 7pm and are affiliated with the Weston Warriors Kickboxing Club.
