A SELECT squad from Clevedon Lawn Tennis Club represented the Under-9s at a mini Orange County league competition, finishing a credible second in their group.
A SELECT squad from Clevedon Lawn Tennis Club represented the Under-9s at a mini Orange County league competition, finishing a credible second in their group against some tough competition from Almondsbury and regional finalists Coombe Dingle.
The team of Josh Davis, Scott Ford, Kit Miller and Kia Thorn played in both singles and doubles matches. The first round single matches resulted in wins for Kia 7-0, 7-0 and Kit 7-2, 7-4 and second round wins for Scott 7-1, 7-3 and Josh 7-0, 7-0.
In the doubles matches the pairing of Scott and Josh lost the first match but then took a 7-0, 7-2 win against Almondsbury. Kia and Kit, playing in their first match, won 7-0, 7-1 before losing their second match.
All the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves on a surprisingly nice morning and were praised for their professional attitude and behaviour both on and off the court. Paul Maggs, director of coaching at Clevedon, also congratulated the team for their performance against some tough opposition.
