WESTON Tennis Club held a junior tournament which was well attended by members and their families.

The Under-10s event was keenly contested with eight players split into two groups of four. The two finalists were Rubens Hathaway and Tim Williams, who provided an excellent match. The hard-hitting Hathaway eventually came out on top with a 7-3, 8-6 victory.

The Under-18s event followed with seven players taking part on a round robin basis and there were some outstanding performances. The winner was Lewis Taylor who retained his title by defeating Dan Gadsby 3-1 in an exciting match.

A special mention should also be made of 10-year-old Alex Cameron who shone throughout the afternoon.

The tournament was organised by the club’s head coach, Jamie Allen, who said the standard of play throughout the day was impressive and was matched by the sporting spirit in which all matches were played.

Jamie holds extensive group and individual coaching for adults, and for juniors aged four years to 17, including a range of mini tennis courses.
