WESTON 2 played their final match of the season and despite fighting hard against Bath 2, lost the game and any hopes of promotion.

The match started off quite close, and despite a new combination which saw Rachel Mason and Vicky Truman shooting and Rachael Norris in the centre.

Weston showed their strength, and solid mid-court play by Bonnie Beech-good and Becky Lewington and the fine defence of Laura Stainer and Hellen Gilmore ensured Bath only edged ahead slightly, finishing the first quarter 12-10.

Unfortunately for Weston 2, things slipped in the second quarter and this was where the game was decided. Bath did some amazing shooting and great interceptions and managed to pull away, finishing the half 15 ahead.

Weston came back fighting in the third and the game was even from then on. But even drawing the third quarter and winning the fourth, thanks to some excellent shooting by Rachel and Vicky and great efforts by newcomer Kelly Windsor in defence, Weston had too much catching up to do, finally losing the game by 14. Player of the match went to Rachel Mason, who usually plays centre, for her efforts as GA.

Weston only got promoted last year and were not expecting to be in the running for promotion, so are delighted to have done so well.
