WESTON Seconds kept their composure in a feisty battle with Bridgwater at home.
Solid defending by player of the match Shelly Parkins and Kat Brown kept the opposition at bay, but Bridgwater secured the lead from a penalty corner towards the end of the first half, giving the visitors the upper hand at the break.
Despite their advantage, Bridgwater continued to play aggressively towards players and umpires alike, but Weston responded impeccably and held their own with a display of sheer determination.
An inspired break up the right hand side set up Weston’s equaliser as Lauren Sims connected with an open stick sweep 10 minutes into the second half.
Bridgwater began to crumble under Weston’s new found energy and within five minutes Weston took the lead as Jade Brown slammed home their winning goal.
Thanks to Russ Moore and Hayley Blackborow for their tolerant umpiring.
There is no fixture next week, but Weston resume training on November 3 at 7pm. New players welcome.
