Weston ladies moved into second place in the league after defeating Taunton.

BOTH teams took the pitch determined to win the game which would decide who would move into second spot in the league.

Weston proved to be the stronger team, dominating the first-half and putting pressure on Taunton.

Mercedes Benz of Weston player of the match, Katie Elliott, scored the first crucial goal from a corner, giving Weston the energy and fight to continue the game.

Shortly after, Lucy Clarke secured what would be the game-winning goal of the match.

The second half proved to be a fight to the end after Taunton came out determined and secured a goal halfway through. The half included a penalty flick awarded to Weston and not converting the chance worked in the team’s favour, with every Weston player digging deep.

The teams continued to battle it out to the last minute, but Weston’s key defensive player Charlotte Gordon, denied Taunton any opportunity on goal resulting in a 2-1 win and placing them second in the league.
