Weston Squash and Racketball ladies A and B teams were triumphant coming top of both divisions 1 and 2 in the Bristol and District League.
AFTER a tough and competitive season, Weston Squash and Racketball ladies A and B teams were triumphant coming top of both divisions 1 and 2 in the Bristol and District League (BAD Squash).
This has secured promotion for the B team, enabling the club to field two squash teams in the first division next season.
The season started last September with both teams playing superb squash, which sealed the two top places at the midway stage. This position was maintained throughout the second half of the season, guaranteeing this unique result for the club.
The A team, under the captaincy of Emma Lane, had some fierce competition from across the county, but came out on top winning the league with one game in hand, showing the team’s superiority over the competition.
Captain Carol Burrows, who took the B team to victory in the second division said: “The B team showed great commitment and support for each other throughout the season being determined to gain promotion. The whole team are excited by the prospect of playing first division squash next season.”
Emma, Carol and team member Mary Chorley were presented with the teams’ awards at the BAD Squash AGM in Bristol.
