England international Nicki Frewin from Axbridge won Weston Sea Angling Association’s Christmas competition.

WESTON Sea Angling Association held their annual Christmas fare competition on the beach.

The weather was not good with gale force winds and torrential rain, but 42 anglers braved the conditions to compete. Even the fish were absent and only four anglers weighed in.

Leading the way was England international Nicki Frewin from Axbridge. Her catch of three flounders gave her top prize of a giant Christmas hamper together with £30 optional pool.

Second with another flounder was Steve Ford from Bristol. In third place was 12-year-old Will Jarman from Wellington. The fourth angler to land a fish was local angler Phytos Yanni, who caught a rockling and won £30 optional pool.
