Langford Rovers were held to a 5-5 draw away at Bishops Lydeard.

Bishops Lydeard 5

Langford Rovers 5

IN a game littered with goals, Rovers came away disappointed at not being able to take the win.

Rovers started brightly and took the lead on 15 minutes when Ryan Havard finished powerfully. The lead only lasted moments before Lydeard equalised with a good ball which evaded the Rovers back four. Toby Yeates then grabbed the lead back before half-time when he pounced after the home keeper could only parry his first effort.

Rovers half-time team talk fired them up again and within 15 minutes of the restart they were four goals to the good via a clinical James Marshall penalty and a Ryan Harris header from Callum McManus cross.

The visitors pulled another back to make it 4-2 before Harris capped a fine display by adding his second.

With limited bench options, Rovers started to tire and then pressed the self destruct button when Kyle Havard was sent off for violent conduct. Despite working tirelessly, Rovers conceded a penalty and two late goals.

They nearly lost the game in the dying moments but for a crucial interception by Leigh White. Morse Windows man of the match went to Ryan Harris.

Churchill 0

Weston St Johns Res 1

SAINTS recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

The visitors settled the quicker and created the first chance which Ryan Hodrian put over after good ball from Dan Hartley. Churchill looked dangerous on the counter attack, but Mike Lowe pulled off a couple of good saves.

Saints’ back four of captain Winter, Mitchell, Whittaker and Carpenter were outstanding and were still creating chances with Gorkua, Evans and Hodrian all going close.

The midfield were controlling the game with Evans and Whittaker in good form, along with the returning Hartley. The two wingers, Charalambos and Gorkua worked tirelessly.

The decisive moment came in the second half when Hodrian was sent racing through, only for the Churchill keeper to bring him down. Hodrian dusted himself down and sent the keeper the wrong way for the winning goal.

Burnham Utd Res 0

Congresbury 1

CONGRESBURY maintained their unbeaten start to the season after a scrappy performance was good enough to seal a win over Burnham.

Congresbury started the game the better side and created several early chances through Liam Collins, Danny Sprague and Ollie Clements.

Burnham found Congresbury defenders Sam Clements, Alex Read, Dan Pepworth and Harry Matthews in fine form protecting keeper Danny Bullock. Ollie Clements thought he had given Congresbury the lead with a free kick, but the referee felt the ball had not crossed the line.

Following good work by Si Hewish and Moe Lister, Congresbury were awarded a free-kick and Sprague stepped up to fire it past the keeper to give Congresbury a 1-0 half-time lead.

After the break, Rob Harraway had a good chance to make it 2-0, but fired over an open goal. Ross Stockhall forced a save out of the keeper before Harraway had a goal disallowed.

Seb Williams and Miltimdis Moumoris added much needed energy to a flagging Congresbury side and helped them run down the clock and hold on for a 1-0 victory. Player of the Match was Sam Clements.
