Kewstoke Lions bounced back to winning form against Churchill Reserves, running out 5-0 winners.

KEWSTOKE bounced back from last week’s cup exit with a scoreline that should have been even more.
The home side played in patches in the first-half, but enjoyed the majority of possession. The only goal came when Joe Popperwell powered forward and cut the ball back for brother Ben to head home.

Kewstoke started the second half with injuries to three or four players, but without replacements had to dig in and controlled the rest of the game with constant pressure on Churchill’s back line.
Ben Popperwell headed a second, Aaron Bray’s fine display was capped with a goal before Popperwell completed his hat-trick. The scoring was complete when Adam Brueford smashed home a penalty.

WORLE Rangers marched on to another quarter-final with a victory over fellow division rivals Weston Players in this Atwell Shield encounter.
Rangers took charge from the first whistle with Williams, Wilson and Jake Hannam keeping things tight with good talking from keeper Jakeman. The opening goal was flowing Rangers at their best as the front three of Brinson, Dale and Troy Hannam combined for Dale to score.
Rangers doubled their lead when JakeHannam crossed for Sutor to beat the keeper. Players hit back and reduced the deficit before half-time, despite the efforts of Jakeman.
Rangers made the game safe after the break when a cross from Brinson was volleyed home by Young from the edge of the area. Westgarth was introduced on a corner and his first touch was to glance on for Stephens to make it 4-1.
Rangers relaxed and Players’ made it 4-2 and then as Jakeman made a good save, a Players forward raced in to make it 4-3. Troy Hannam scored from a Young corner to make it 5-3 and the tie safe.
Jo Dale was superb in the opening period until injured, skipper Matt Wilson stood strong at key moments and Andy Young’s goal and composure in midfield was outstanding. However, the Curry Garden man of the match went to Tom Williams.
