Fencer Luke Mason has qualified for the British Youth Championships in May.
THIRTEEN-year-old Luke Mason competed in the South West Under-14 boy’s epee qualifers.
The Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College student fenced well from the start, winning all but one of his pool bouts. He progressively won all his direct elimination matches to reach the final against the same opponent he lost to in the pool.
This by far was the most exciting match of the age group, both competent fencers with similar skills. Unfortunately, Luke lost but achieved a worthy second place and has qualified to fence epee in the British Youth Championships at Sheffield in May.
