After a 200-run victory at Huntspill, Lympsham & Belvedere seconds were brought back down to earth with a 225-run home loss to Churchill.

Churchill's opening pair of J Masters and Brafield attacked from the first ball, finding the boundaries with ease as only Kevin Crockett (8-2-24-0) was able to stem the flow of runs as all home bowlers were made to suffer.

Masters and Brafield (39) batted aggressively before the latter was trapped in front by Nil Chatterjee (6-0-46-1) and Matt Davis (8-1-47-2) was rewarded for his efforts as Stuart Bruce held onto a catch at mid-off to dismiss Fear (13).

Masters was joined by Bush and they upped the tempo before Bruce took a superb catch at long off to dismiss Masters for an excellent 90 again off the bowling of Davis.

Bush carried on aggressively and with O Masters and Pearce (23) kept the scoreboard moving far too quickly for the home side.

Bush (78) was well held at long-on by Brian Hosey off the bowling of Fraser Bruce (5-0-50-1) and Paul Davis (3-0-27-1) saw O Masters (23) well held at deep point by Andy Denny.

Stuart Bruce (6-0-63-1) returned at the end of the innings to bowl Pearce (23) as Churchill amassed 308-6.

Churchill`s opening bowlers, Brafield and O Masters, never allowed L&B to settle and provided few scoring opportunities in an impressive opening spell as only 12 runs were scored in nine overs.

Jim Bishop (1) was then trapped in front by Masters and Tom Cates (0) followed two balls later, caught at mid-on off the bowling of Masters, and when Crockett (12) was caught off the bowling of Pearce, L&B were in deep trouble at 24-3 after 15 overs.

Brian Hosey and Matt Davis tried to rebuild as Pearce and Bush gave little scoring opportunities, adding 31 before Hosey (11) was held at square leg.

Bush quickly accounted for Denny (4) and S Bruce (0), both well stumped by Lenton, to see L&B at 64-6 and Chatterjee (9) was unfortunate to be run out.

Sam Bishop (0) was bowled by the returning Masters but Matt Davis continued to defy Churchill until he was unlucky to play on for a determined 20.

The innings was brought to a conclusion as Fraser Bruce (2) was bowled by Brafield to see L&B dismissed for just 83 as only M Davis, Crockett and Hosey reached double figures ahead of a local derby at Uphill Castle next Saturday.
