Lympsham extended their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortabley victory over Wellington.

Lympsham hosted Wellington looking to extend their winning run in the league and skipper Jack Luff lost his first toss of the year and was asked to bowl first.

Lympsham struck early with Matt Mitchell (2-31) getting the first breakthrough, and it didn’t take long for him to pick up his second leaving Wellington 29-2 after eight overs.

From then on, Lympsham picked up wickets at regular intervals in the middle overs with Jack Luff (2-29) and Adam Micklewright (1-19) leaving the visitors 76-5 at the halfway point.

However, some good batting and some lapses in concentration in the field allowed Wellington to put on 50 for the sixth wicket, before a sharp run out from Hayden Tuttiett got Lympsham the vital breakthrough.

Tom Gooding returned at the death to take three wickets in an over and left Wellington on 177-9 off their 45 overs.

In reply, Lympsham started strongly with the aggressive Gary Hutton takingv just 26 balls to reach his 50, and took the home side to 53 in the sixth over.

With solid support from Dave Luff, the pair continued to press on, putting on 110 for the first wicket before Lympsham Concrete man of the match Hutton was removed for a brilliant 88 off just 50 balls, including 14 fours and four sixes.

From then on, Lympsham kept their foot firmly on the accelerator, with Jack Luff (19) and Felix Grandfield (14) scoring quickly before being removed. Dave Luff was eventually removed for 36, and it was left to Tuttiett (9 not out) and Rich Ford (4 not out) to see Lympsham to victory for loss of four wickets in just 28 overs.

This was another convincing performance ensuring Lympsham remain unbeaten this season, and look to keep the momentum going on Saturday where they travel to Street.
