LYMPSHAM maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a six wicket victory at Street.

From the off, Lympsham set a good tone in the field and bowled with accuracy and consistency, resulting in two early wickets from Matt Mitchell. First change bowler Sam Poole created chances, and eventually one was taken with a sharp direct hit run out from Jack Luff.

Lympsham Concrete man of the match Mitchell finished with figures of 2-25 off 10 overs, and this left the home side on 62-3 at the halfway stage.

Wickets became hard to find, but the constant pressure that Lympsham exerted meant the run rate was squeezed. Late wickets for Liam Morris (2-25) and Adam Micklewright (1-31) allowed Lympsham to keep a firm grasp on the game, with Street finishing on 147-8 off their 45 overs.

In reply, Lympsham started well again with Gary Hutton taking charge once more. With other opener Dave Luff, the pair took the score onto 56 before Hutton was lbw for 41.

Jack Luff only managed eight before being caught and bowled. Luff senior soon followed for 28 and Lympsham found themselves 89-3 after 19 overs.

But the win was never in doubt, with Sophie Luff and Rich Ford working the ball to all parts of the ground. Ford was removed for 35 with one to win, but Luff was still in control and smashed a four to see Lympsham cross the line for the loss of just four wickets as she finished on a classy 26 not out.

Lympsham host Uphill Castle on Saturday, looking to extend their unbeaten run even further.

Lympsham Sunday Development XI defeated Wellington by 37 runs in this Somerset Sunday League match, with just nine players.

Openers Felix Grandfield (21) and Stuart Bruce (11) got Lympsham off to a promising start before Grandfield was caught with the score on 31. Lympsham Livery man of the match Tom Gooding (102 not out) joined Bruce in the middle and pushed the score to 57 when Bruce was out.

Gooding was starting to find the boundaries and with Liam Morris (14), Lympsham moved the score to 99 before Morris was bowled. This brought Dave Luff (50 not out) to join Gooding and they set about building a defendable score.

In the final over, Gooding reached his 100 which included 14 fours and two sixes to post a score of 233-4 off their 40 overs.

The Wellington opening pair of Gouws (36) and Campbell (32) started aggressively and hit 59 off the first six overs. Adam Micklewright (4-32) got the breakthrough, taking the wickets of both opening batsmen.

Lympsham continued to bowl and field exceptionally well and with Micklewright taking 2twomore wickets and Liam Morris (2-19) picking up a couple, the game swung towards Lympsham.

However, with the score on 145 off 28 overs, the Wellington partnership of Moysey (59) and Henwood (21) added runs at a match winning rate until Henwood was run out on 21.

In the 38th over, Felix Grandfield (3-2) took the last three wickets as Wellington finished on 196 all out.
