LYMPSHAM travelled to Coombe Dingle and came up against a strong University Staff side as their unbeaten run came to an end.

University Staff decided to bat first on a dry, hard track. Rich Coles was soon showing his fielding skills running out Brealey for six in the third over.

With Summers and Bailey bowling tight lines, University Staff struggled to score quickly, but steadily built a 106-run partnership before Pilgrim bowled captain T Lack for a good 64.Staff now found themselves looking to up the run rate.

Two more run outs by Luff, and Pilgrim picked up two further wickets to finish with figures of 8-2-15-3. Staff finished on 168-7.

Lympsham were confident at tea, but Andy Greed (1) soon found himself back in the pavilion. Mike Tucker and Dave Luff had a torrid time against the pace and movement off Drake (15-4-23-1). Tucker was out in the 17th over for a battling 13. Luff decided to increase the tempo, hitting two sixes, but eventually gloved one behind for 34.

Lympsham's middle order all failed, until Rich Coles hit a quickfire 23 and the tail also struggled with only Bailey (17) showing any resistance.

This was a disappointing way for Lympsham to surrender their unbeaten season, with too many batsmen failing to be positive and letting the bowlers dominate.

Lympsham Concrete man of the match for his wholehearted and economical opening spell is Brendon Summers (15-2-49-0).
