Lympsham skipper blasts 147 in their comfortable victory over Frampton Cotterell.

LYMPSHAM 1st XI entertained Frampton Cotterell from South Gloucestershire, and skipper Jamie Howson won the toss and elected to bat.

The hosts had an immediate setback when opener Dave Luff was dismissed for just one, but this brought the skipper to the crease to join Rich Ford and they began to repair the damage.

The pair steadily built a foundation and then started to up the scoring rate, and when Ford was dismissed in the 25th over the score had moved past the 100 mark. Lympsham Concrete man of the match Howson began to accelerate, and ably supported by the middle order batsmen, he went on to record an impressive 147 before being removed with just five overs remaining.

Veteran Andrew Hall and his partners at the crease made the most of the last five overs, and an impressive 246-7 was posted.

In reply, the visitors made the worst possible start when Brendon Summers removed opener Carter without scoring, and despite Ian Roylance holding together one end, the visitors continued to lose wickets at the other end.

Summers looked particularly impressive on his return to the 1st XI, and the visitors were eventually dismissed for a disappointing 178 in just 34 overs.

This victory leaves Lympsham still unbeaten in the league this season, and if they can continue this form they should be able to challenge for a promotion spot.

? The 2nd XI travelled to Bitton and stand-in skipper Simon Cowgill lost the toss and the hosts decided to bat.

Opening bowlers Liam Morris and Paul Marquis had little success, but when Cowgill and Simon Bailey took over wickets began to fall, and with Max Gregory and Max Ford also bowling well, the hosts were restricted to 206-6 off of their allotted 45 overs.

In reply, Lympsham made a slow start, with Bailey and Rich Drew struggling to get the ball away, but when they were dismissed Liam Morris and Mike Hockin increased the scoring rate, and an unlikely victory looked possible.

When Windows Merchants man of the match Max Ford scored his maiden 50 for the club it was game on, but unfortunately the visitors ran out of steam and were dismissed for 177.

? Lympsham Sunday Development XI entertained a strong Bishopston XI from Bristol, and skipper Tom Gooding lost the toss and was invited to field.

The visitors lost three early wickets for just 23 runs, with opening bowlers Trust Inheritance man of the match Liam Morris (3-32) and Max Ford (1-36) picking up early wickets, but the visitors middle order rallied.

Despite some good bowling by Gregory (2-31), Berry (1-27) and Jack Luff (1-15), the visitors posted an imposing 249-8 in their allotted 40 overs.

In reply, the hosts experienced an early setback when losing Craig Scriven for just four, but Jack Luff (41), Tom Gooding (28), Hayden Tuttiett (51) and Jed Kerkin (19) gave the reply some respectability as Lympsham were dismissed for a creditable 175.
