A new addition to the Management Team has been made in the Somerset Rebel camp at the Oak Tree Arena.General Manager, David Croucher, has announced the appointment of Ronnie Russell as the home team manager for the next month."Former team manager, Steve Bishop, who has been such a great servant to the club, both on and off a bike, has got work and family commitments that mean he will not be available to officiate all the time", said Croucher."Steve has made the very hard decision, that if he cannot give 100% of his time, he feels he is not going to be doing his job properly, and is taking a back seat for the time being."Ronnie offered his help, in any way, and we grabbed at the opportunity to help us out on Friday nights.""It's great having him on board," continued Croucher, "He is a great character, he's experienced, and very committed to his speedway. I am sure the riders and the fans will warm to him and it will be great for the club generally to have him around."New Sponsorship Boost For RebelsThe Rebels have been further buoyed with the news that Dickies, the nationally renowned work-wear designers and manufacturers, are to increase their involvement with the club. The Somerset based company already provide the track staff with their overalls, but following their invitation to the club's press day last month, Dickies announced a new initiative will see them also supply the team members, pit crew and management team with team jackets, and, they will be sponsoring the club's academy side, the Somerset Giants, supplying the team with their race-jackets.Commenting on his company's link with the Rebels, Dickies Sales and Marketing Director, Maurice Morton said: "We are delighted to be able to give our support to another significant Somerset based organisation, especially as our products are ideal for the various jobs the arena staff have to undertake. We are looking forward to closely following the success of the Somerset Rebels team and the continued development of this superb, specialist facility at Oak Tree Arena". Somerset's general manager, David Croucher, was obviously delighted with the news. "It is a privilege to have another world-wide major brand supporting the Rebels this year," he said as the news was announced, "And I am delighted to welcome both Maurice Morton and Jeremy Fraser on board. This is fantastic news and shows the esteem with which, the team, the facilities and the infrastructure here at the Oak Tree Arena are viewed, by a major company such as Dickies.
