SAM Street from King Alfreds School won the the Avenue Tennis Club Friday night junior matchplay trophy with 24 points, closely followed by Charley Huggins, who managed to accrue 21.

SAM Street from King Alfreds School won the the Avenue Tennis Club Friday night junior matchplay trophy with 24 points, closely followed by Charley Huggins, who managed to accrue 21.

The trophy was presented by Jess Griffiths and Heather Duddy who both help to run the evening. The event is open to all junior members aged 11+ and starts at 8pm and the scores are maintained on the website.

Coaching for these older juniors is available during the week on Tuesdays (7.30-9pm), Thursdays (4.30-6pm, changing to 5.30-7pm from March) and on Saturdays (12noon-1pm – girls only) and mixed (1.30-2.30pm). For younger children there is coaching every other night of the week and early Saturday mornings at the club.

A junior yellow ball competition will be held on February 26 at 1pm and is open to members and non members. The club will also be running a Mini Red Ball Tournament February 27 from 11am. A social tennis tournament will be held on Sunday from 11am, all are welcome to attend and play, all competitions are open to members and non members.

The February school holiday junior tennis camp will run from 9am-4pm from February 21-25, forms are from the club house or from the website.

The Avenue Tennis Club is currently running a new membership offer which will see new members getting 14 months membership for the price of 12 at 2010 prices.
