Avenue Tennis Club member Megan Rundle enjoyed success playing for Somerset.

NINE-year-old Megan Rundle represented Somerset against Dorset, Cornwall and Devon.

Megan, a member of Avenue Tennis Club in Burnham, along with three other boys and two other girls, had to play six singles and three double matches against each county. Somerset finished second with 32 points. Dorset won with 36 points, with Devon third and Cornwall fourth.

Megan, a pupil at Mark First School, played a nationally ranked junior in the Dorset team and won the first set 7- 5 playing some excellent tennis but lost the following two sets 7-5 and 7-3. Against opponents from Devon and Cornwall Megan recorded impressive 7-4, 7-2 and 7-5, 7-0 victories. Playing in her first competitive doubles match, she won one game and lost two.
