A GORDON Hazell Memorial Gymnasium is being built in Mangotsfield, Bristol that will consist of football and cricket facilities, a dedicated boxing gym for the Downend Amateur Boxing Club and a community room.They are seeking memorabilia of Gordon's career to submit into the gym as a museum for one of Bristol's great sportsmen. They can see from Gordon's record he boxed at the Grand Pier Pavilion on June 26, 1950, again on August 28, 1951, on August 28, 1952, and at the Winter Gardens on January 15, 1951.Gordon also trained at the Kings Hall, Weston, for his 1955 British title challenge against Manchester's Johnny Sullivan. Apparently these sessions were open to the public.It's a long shot but one of your readers may have been there, or had a relative there.They are seeking photos, programmes, posters and it would be great to hear any memories.
