TEAM Mendip entered four ladies teams into the Berrow six-a-side tournament, with one emerging as the winners.
The teams were split into two groups with two Mendip teams in each group. All four teams did fantastically well on the day with both Mendip teams in group A finishing first and second and in group B finishing first and third.
With the top two teams in each group going through to the semi-finals, this meant three of the Mendip teams went through, two having to face each other and the other having to play Berrow.
In the first semi final match, Mendip A took on Mendip C, with the C side going through to the final after a 1-0 win. In the second semi, Mendip B swept aside Berrow 3-0 to make it an all-Mendip final.
The final was played in great spirit in the rain with both teams working hard to try and get the win. Two goals from Ellie Orritt saw Mendip B win the final and remain unbeaten all day.
AP Plumbing and Heating player of the tournament went to Nicole Flourentzou.
Team Mendip Ladies first team are currently celebrating as their promotion application to the South West Woman’s Football League Eastern Division was accepted after finishing joint first at the end of the season.
This means a step up for the team and will be competing against the likes of Yeovil, Forest Green Rovers and Keynsham Town.
