Weston Tennis Club held a Mercedes-Benz junior tournament at their Neva Road courts.

WESTON Tennis Club was delighted to hold a Mercedes-Benz of Weston junior tournament.

The event was attended by junior members and well supported by their families. The standard of play was impressive and matched by the excellent spirit in which the matches were played.

An Under-10s tournament was keenly contested on a round robin basis by nine eager players. The winner was Ashwin Tomy and the runner-up was Luke Yeates.

The Under-18s tournament followed with some high calibre tennis. The winner was Lewis Taylor and the runner-up Daniel Gadsby.

Club chairman, Bob Wilson, told the Mercury: “We are grateful to Mercedes-Benz of WsM for their generous funding of our junior section. Their support for junior tennis development in Weston has enabled us to provide subsidised individual coaching for a number of our juniors and expand our development programme.”

Trophies were presented by Caroline Yard of Mercedes-Benz, who said: “It has been a wonderful day representing Mercedes-Benz at Weston Tennis Club’s junior event. Mercedes-Benz is delighted to be associated with the club’s junior development programme and today shows the results of our continued support.”

In this Olympic year and with Wimbledon fast approaching, Weston Tennis Club head coach Jamie Allen is working in conjunction with several primary schools including Walliscote and Uphill.

He is also holding various junior sessions throughout the week. For more information please contact Jamie on 07790 937448 or view the club website at westontennisclub.co.uk
