WESTON No 8 George Sparks made his 200th first team appearance in the match at Chippenham last week to qualify for his club cap.
Sparks, aged 31, was born in Manchester and was educated at Sidcot School from where he appeared in Somerset’s 17 group XV. He also played for Somerset at Colts level and at senior level in the County Championships. He started his club rugby in Weston Under-16s.
He was club captain in 2011/12 but before that, he made his senior debut for the Seasiders at Redruth in September 2003 in the Powergen Cup competition and so far, has scored 49 tries.
He will be presented with his cap at the club’s annual dinner in May when he will emulate his father Barry, who received the same award in 1997.
