The Jan Mackay mixed doubles event at Avenue Tennis Club in Burnham, proved to be a big success.

SAM Stead and Ellie May finished top male and female in the Jan Mackay mixed doubles tournament held at the Avenue Tennis Club in Burnham.

Organised by head coach Vinny Duddy, the event was a great success and was held on the newly refurbished hard courts due to flooding.

The next event at the club will be the Boxing Day fun doubles tournament which will start at 11am. The next BW Controls Ltd junior red and orange tournaments will be on February and Mar 24.

The club’s annual family Christmas lunch will be held on Sunday from noon. Adults cost �10 and children under-13 �5. Please sign up on noticeboard as places are limited.

The junior disco will be on December 21, from 6.30pm and will include a magic show together with party food.

The last BW Controls Ltd mini red tournament of 2012 saw eight players battle it out for the trophy, with five of them playing their first-ever tournament.

The eventual champion was Tom Spinks, one of the Avenue’s academy players who won six of the seven matches. Runner-up Ruben Hathaway, from Weston, also won six games, but lost 10-6 to Tom.

Megan Rundle won the last BW Controls Ltd mini orange tournament, winning all six of her matches.
