Racing driver Roger Orgee finished fourth at Castle Combe after starting from the back of the grid.

CASTLE Combe was not Roger Orgee’s favourite place when his Weston College Formula Ford developed an oil leak just as qualifying was about to start.

He ended up with no laps in qualifying and had to start from the back of the grid.

Calculations showed that Roger’s normal lap times would enable him to catch the leaders by around lap seven, giving him another eight laps to overtake the leading group, which normally comprises of around seven front running competitors.

However, as the lights changed, Roger made a demon start and was in the middle of the pack by the first corner and after some heart stopping moves, Roger came round in seventh place.

Roger picked off a rival every lap until, with two laps to go, he came round in third place.

On the last lap it all came together when Roger stole second place and charged into Tower corner, only to lose the place as the manoeuvre had fractionally slowed him up, leaving him in fourth place.

Now second in the championship, by only three points, the team look forward to the next round on June 14.
