Racing driver Roger Orgee maintained top spot after a second place at Castle Combe.
LANGFORD racing driver Roger Orgee continued his season at Castle Combe with another top result for the Weston College Formula Ford.
Qualifying did not go too well as Roger was getting up to speed, a competitor’s car blew up its engine and spread oil all across the track, ruining any chance of an improved time, so he had to settle for fifth place on the third row of the grid.
A good start put Roger up to third by the first corner and two laps later he was up to a close second position. By the third lap three cars had broken away and were circulating nose to tail, inches apart in a high speed display of clean driving.
With two laps to go, they were still tied together but an ambitious move by one of the three ended up with a grassy moment and Roger had to avoid a collision, creating a one second gap instead of a tenth of a second, which put paid to any last lap move for the lead Roger was planning.
Still, another podium and the championship lead. Toll on the next round on May 26.
