Weston faced Bristol Barbarians in a West Water Polo League fixture played at Hutton Moor and were beaten by just one goal.

In the opening period, Weston were under heavy pressure from the Barbarians conceding six goals, including a penalty. The home side were unable to reply to the goals in this quarter, but kept battling on.

After conceding an early goal at the start of the second quarter, Reece Trapani was first to score for Weston. Following another away goal, a well-worked lob from Matt Morgan reached the hands of Liam Coles, who netted.

After another goal from Trapani, one for the Barbarians and a late quarter goal from Morgan, Weston had closed the deficit (4-9) to win the quarter 4-3.

Going into the third quarter, Weston were quick to add to their score, attacking as a unit. Two well-rehearsed goals from Matt Vincent and a skimming shot from Coles left Weston only three goals behind after a Barbarian goal (7-10).

Some sturdy defending from Weston held off the Barbarian attacks, allowing for goals from Alec Gahame and Trapani. At the end of the quarter, the Barbarians scraped only two back, leaving Weston three goals behind again at 9-12.

The final period saw both sides defending solidly and two more goals were scored by the Barbarians and four from Weston, including one from George Forbes, leaving the game finished at 13-14.

Weston team: James Bramwell, Matt Vincent (c), Ieuan Laraman, Ed Tye, Mark Dunstone, Reece Trapani, Matt Morgan, Alec Gahame, Liam Coles, Scott Bradley, James Gahame, George Forbes, Dean Bird.
