NAILSEA'S two premier football clubs, Nailsea United and Nailsea Town, will contest the inaugural Dave Williams Memorial trophy this coming Sunday, May 17, at the Grove Sports Centre, Nailsea.
Dave sadly passed away in April 2008, and was one of Nailsea United's greatest ever club servants. After joining Nailsea United in 1958 as a player in the club's youth team, Dave served the club for 50 years as a player, manager, chairman and committee member, all with great dedication and distinction. He amassed an impressive playing record of 448 appearances between 1961 and 1992, scoring 135 goals and his immense contribution to Nailsea United will always be remembered.
Dave's wife Bea Williams has kindly donated a wonderful trophy in his memory and it is fitting that so many who knew and respected Dave will contest the trophy and be involved with the match. The game will kick off at 2pm and a collection will be held during the game for the Bristol Oncology Centre.
