Wedmore Bowls Club defeated St Andrews by just one shot in a mixed friendly game.

ISLE of Wedmore entertained St Andrews in a mixed friendly, when each club won a rink.

Maureen Hordle’s side took the lead on end five and built it up to nine shots by end nine, having won seven ends in a row. St Andrew’s began to get into the scoring, but it was never close until the last two ends when they scored five shots. This resulted in an 18-16 Wedmore win.

On the other rink, Mike Green’s team started promisingly and held the lead for 13 ends, but were overhauled by the opposition. It was nip and tuck as the lead changed hands with St Andrew’s going into the last end with a two-shot lead.

Wedmore scored one shot which gave the visitors the rink, but was just enough to give the home side the match, with an overall score of 35-34.
