Lympsham seconds hold out for a narrow victory over Blagdon.

LYMPSHAM 2nd XI entertained Blagdon and skipper Rod Simpson won the toss and elected to bat.

The hosts made a steady start with openers Rich Drew (8) and Tom Gooding (41) batting steadily, but the complexion of the match changed in the eighth over when both Drew and his replacement at the crease Liam Morris were both dismissed.

Craig Skriven (23) now joined Gooding and they proceeded to repair the damage, and things seemed to be going well until five wickets fell for just four runs in four overs, and standing at 96-7 in the 28th over things looked bleak.

But young Adam Micklewright joined his skipper at the crease, and the pair batted the innings out, putting on 73 runs, which enabled their side to post a reasonable target of 168-7.

In reply, the visitors made a disappointing start against opening bowler Tom Gooding (2-50), losing both openers, but this brought the experienced Simon Westbrook to the crease and he looked untroubled against the home attack.

When Windows Merchants man of the match Simon Cowgill bowled Donavan (23), this exposed the remaining batsmen to Cowgill, who was bowling an excellent spell.

Westbrook however, stood firm, and despite losing partners regularly it looked like he would see his side through, but with a combination of Cowgill (6-46), and some good all-round fielding, Blagdon were restricted to 162-9, leaving Westbrook not out on 95, as Lympsham ran out narrow winners.

? Lympsham Sunday Development XI hosted Bristol Civil Service, and captain Tom Gooding lost the toss and the visitors elected to bat.

They made a steady start against opening bowlers Adam Micklewright (0-26) and Austin Petheram (1-24). The score steadily increased despite the introduction of Dan Pfaff and Nathan James to the attack, and visiting batsman Grunshaw was able to retire after hitting 50.

When skipper Gooding called on Trust Inheritance man of the match Jed Kerkin (4-28) to add variation, it did the trick and wickets began to fall, and with Liam Morris (1-9), Jack Luff (1-3) and Nathan James (2-25) all chipping in, the visitors were dismissed for 151.

In reply, the hosts made a bad start losing opener Craig Skriven for a duck, but the experienced Andy Hall was joined at the crease by his skipper and they steadily repaired the damage.

Hall retired when he reached his 50, as did Gooding, and it was left to Jack Luff (32 not out) to guide his side home to a comfortable victory.
