Hornettes’ ladies rugby coach has been awarded a national award in recognition of the commitment and dedication to the club.

A RUGBY coach from Weston has had her contribution to the sport recognised by a national programme set up by QBE Insurance, an official partner of the Rugby Football Union (RFU).

Hornettes’ Rhiannon Tottle is one of just four rugby coaches from across the country to be honoured by the QBE Insurance My Coach programme, which rewards coaches who have inspired and supported success.

Rhiannon was nominated for the award by the youngsters she coaches in recognition of the commitment and dedication she’s shown to the club.

Rhiannon started coaching at the club this year in an effort to inspire more women to take up the sport and coaches the Under-13s, 15s and 18 teams, while also turning out for the ladies’ first XV.

To reward Rhiannon’s efforts, QBE Insurance are laying on an exclusive training session with an England legend for the Hornettes, while Rhiannon will also be awarded a place at the QBE Coaching Club, which will enable her to become a Level 2 qualified rugby coach.

Rhiannon said: “I’m delighted to have been chosen from so many great coaches. I think it’s really important to get as many young girls into rugby as possible, and I really enjoy seeing them develop and grow as players and as people.

“Getting my Level 2 coaching qualification will help develop my skills as a coach and help the players become the best they can be.”
