It was a week to forget for Weston as they slipped to two defeats in three days and head coach Ryan Northmore slammed the players’ performances.
After such a promising start in the National League South, with three wins and one draw in their opening four matches, the Seagulls have now lost three matches in a row and have performed poorly.
On Saturday, Weston made the trip to Margate but a Elliott Buchanan brace and a Yado Mambo header gave the Seagulls a mountain to climb.
A late finish from the club’s top scorer Shawn McClousky was to only be a consolation for the visitors.
Northmore then challenged his players to bounce back on bank holiday Monday at The Woodspring Stadium but he was left angry with his side’s efforts as they were downed 3-0 by St Albans City.
Due to heavy traffic, kick off was delayed by 40 minutes but the latecomers stole the show and scored three goals in seven minutes to see off the Seagulls.
A fantastic free kick from Saints debutant Matt Ball set the visitors on the way after 32 minutes but prompted a capitulation from the Seagulls.
Three minutes later, Ball added a second to his tally when he capitalised on some lack lustre defending.
A long throw from Lee Chappell was headed on by Ryan Johnson and Ball was alert again to volley home.
The game was then out of sight almost straight away when George Casey played the ball into Louie Thephanous, who made no mistake with his finish.
Northmore was visibly angry with his side’s performance and told the Mercury some players have ‘given up the shirt’ for the next match.
He said: “I think I have given some of them enough chances now. Some of them have given up the shirt with their performance.
“We are not going to win many games with disjointed performances like that.
“I am not seeing the resilience that we had in the earlier games. I am not hearing the lads be as vocal and it’s all very well feeling something, but you have to show it.”
