WHILE most of us were probably tucked under a duvet nursing a sore head on January 1, a group of keen runners were out pounding the tarmac.
The weather could not have been much worse for those taking part in the annual New Year’s Day Hangover 10K, but the hardy racers were undeterred.
The race started at Kewstoke Village Hall in Crookes Lane and the runners were blasted by strong winds and heavy rain throughout.
Many members of Weston Athletics Club beat their personal bests, and the first three men from the club to finish were Pete Clark in 37mins 46secs, Matt Huxtable in 38mins 12secs, and Kieron Summers, who was a further five seconds behind.
Niki Fulstow was the first Weston Athletics Club woman to finish in 47mins 41secs, followed by Pam Withers in 50mins 03secs and Steph Shute in 53mins 07secs.
